Tom Mason provides advice and representation on a wide range of civil matters. A native of Alaska, Tom entered the legal profession with a focus on environmental preservation and conducted his clerkship with the State of Vermont, Natural Resources Board. His experiences with the NRB provided him with a keen understanding of the permitting process and complexities involved in maintaining compliance with Act 250. Tom was a senior editor for the Penn State Environmental Law Review and has researched and written extensively on the breadth of federal regulation under the Clean Water Act.
Tom also has significant experience in Elder Law, including estate planning and tax related issues. He has worked with families to resolve end of life disputes and ensured that all of his clients have access to federal and state benefit programs.
Since moving to Vermont in 2008, Tom has counseled and represented many low-income clients on a strictly volunteer (zero fee) basis. He has assisted Vermonters with issues relating to landlord/tenant law, family law, collection actions, and contractual disputes. He has argued successfully in court and resolved matters favorably for clients, many of whom would not have otherwise had access to legal advice.
Tom is an avid musician and yoga practitioner. He also enjoys skiing, disc golf, and distance running.

Before joining Dark Star Law Group, Christine's experience was mostly in legal services where she provided advice and representation to low income clients. While working at MidPenn Legal Services, Greater Boston Legal Services, and Legal Services Law Line of Vermont, Christine helped clients with family law, tax law, landlord/tenant law, employment law, consumer protection law, and also will preparation and estate planning. Additionally, Christine has spent time in a private law firm practicing corporate law.
Christine spends her free time playing music, knitting, practicing yoga, and playing disc golf. Further, she the editor for the Vermont Environmental Monitor, a monthly publication on environmental regulatory issues in Vermont. Christine also serves as a co-founder and director of Girls Rock Vermont, a non-profit music camp for girls.
